The RFID Center of Excellence was set up in April 2005 as the first step for the
development of radio frequency identification technology in Brazil. Since its beginning
CoE has been working to identify industry technological needs, through its commitment
with application research, continuously investigating the next infrastructure generations
for data capture and collecting, always with the aim to actively contribute for
the development of the RFID technology, helping its adoption in industrial scale.
EPCglobal, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide the commercial
adoption of Electronic Product Code (EPC) in the global supply chains, recognized
COE’s reputation of quality and integrity awarding its performance test center accreditation
mark – EPCglobal Accredited Test Center - to RFID Center of
Excellence. CoE is the first laboratory in Brazil to receive the accreditation mark,
being now part of the Worldwide Network of Testing Centers of this renowned entity
that has only the most important international laboratories among their partners,
especially in Europe and in the United States. In 2009, the RFID CoE also obtained the accreditation
for the Static Test Method, becoming the first lab in the world certified to Portal,
Conveyor and Static Tests.
The RFID CoE also contributes in a decisive way in the coordination of efforts to
connect research centers, universities and suppliers in a network to discuss the
new issues and challenges of the technology, with the particular objective to promote
technological advances in RFID and its application.
The RFID Center of Excellence is prepared to aid customers to visualize the possible
RFID applications in their businesses as well as to observe these applications in
real market conditions, through the accomplishment of technical researches, configuration
of different products and validation and development of tools for interface of the
systems, in an atmosphere appropriately equipped to reproduce the reality of an
industrial area and to accomplish tests and simulations before any implementation.
